Remember to Report Certain Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts by June 30 to the IRS

With globalization, more people in the U.S. have foreign financial accounts. "There are responsibilities that go along with owning such foreign bank and financial accounts," said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman. "Foreign account owners must remember that they may have to report their accounts to the government, even if the accounts do not generate any taxable income."

The Oregon Political Tax Credit is not a well-known credit, but one that can be taken advantage of easily. By making a donation of $50 ($100 if married filing joint) to a political campaign of your choice, you can reduce your taxes or increase your refund by that same $50 or $100.

Qualified political campaigns include:

Political parties
Qualified candidates for federal, state or local office to be voted for in Oregon
Political action committee certified in Oregon.

To claim the tax credit, enter the amount of your donation (not more than $50 for single filers and $100 if married filing joint) on line 40 on the second page of Form 40.
