CPAs issue three kinds of financial statements; Compiled, Reviewed and Audited. Most small business owners will use a compiled financial statement. Reviewed financial statements require more verification and audited financial statements require verification of balance sheet accounts. Usually an outside creditor or equity investor will dictate what types of financial statements are required by the closely held business.
